Wendywood is a serene suburb with a sense of peace and tranquility. It is a leafy area of Sandton, and it is away from all the rush and traffic noise of the nearby business districts. This suburb is neighbour to the suburbs of Gallo Manor and Morningside and attracts middle to upper-income residents because of its convenient location close to the Sandton CBD.  

There are some larger older homes on big stands that appeal to the family residents of Wendywood, but there are also complexes like The Foundry and Esprit, which offer more compact options with executive apartments, and cluster homes that include facilities like gyms for the complex residents. This suburb also has several boomed-off areas with 24-hour security providing residents with a secure living environment.

The history of this peaceful suburb is closely linked to that of the Sandton suburb, as it was established approximately the same time as the Sandton suburb came into being. This was when Johannesburg's growth spread towards the north in the late 60s. The older part of Wendywood was initially on Blue Haze Farm, with the newer part being established on Barry Farm, and the suburb became popular due to its proximity to the fast-developing business center of Sandton.

One of those schools is Wendywood Primary School, an English medium public primary school that caters to learners from Grade R to Grade 7 and has a history going back to 1980. There is also Wendywood High School, which was established seven years later and aims to bring the best out of all the students entrusted in their care and lead in their High School career.
